Where to stay in Helsinki?

What is the best area to stay in Helsinki for your first time visit?

Are you visiting the Finnish capital for the first time? Stay in or near the city centre of Helsinki. It’s a small area and you can eassily explore it by foot, bike or public transport.

Helsinki is a compact city so most accommodations lie within the Southern district (the city centre and the neighbourhood). In other districts aren’t many hotels because all the major attractions can be found in or near the city centre. Of course, the further away you are from the city centre the cheaper the prices are. But do you have just a couple of days to explore the city I recommend to stay in the city centre.

In this area you will find the main sight: the Helsinki Uspenski Cathedral. There are also a number of museums located in the city centre which are the main sights of the city. For example: the Ateneum Art Museum, the Senate Square, Old Market Hall and the Design District.

It’s the perfect area for sightseeing, shopping, and to enjoy food and drinks.
