Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is an amazing big city that’s worth a visit in the MIddle East. I lived in this city for 6 months and a lot of people visited me, most of them stayed for 5 days. In my opinion 5 days in Dubai is perfect to do everything you want without hurrying from activity to activity. So do you stay for 4 nights in Dubai? As a result of my 6-month stay and the visits from friends, I made this Dubai itinerary for 5 days with 15 things to see in Dubai.
How to spend 4 nights in Dubai?
Day 1 – The Center of Dubai
1. Get to the topmost floor of Dubai Burj Khalifa
Did you ever heard of the Burj Khalifa? This is the tallest building of the world! So one of the things to see in Dubai in 5 days is a trip to the world’s tallest building! The Burj Khalifa is located in Dubai next to the Dubal Mall
The building has 160 floors and during a visit to the Burj Khalifa you will go to the highest possible floor, the 125th floor. You will stand 2,722 feet above the ground. The views are amazing so don’t forget to bring you camera to this place! The Panoramic views from the Burj Khalifa allows you to see the Fountain, the Arabian Gulf and other places.
Tip: book your ticket before your arrival because sometimes this place is booked weeks in advance!
With the ticket, you can tour the building for 1.5 hours and get an audio travel guide and headphones that can make your movement around the building more meaningful.
2. Sightsee at Dubai Aquarium – Dubai Mall
The Dubai Aquarium is one of the impressive things to see in Dubai in 5 days. It’s with 10 million litres the largest aquarium of the world. It is located inside the Dubai Mall, just follow the signs in the mall to find this place. The aquarium is packed with hundreds of fishes and the rarest reptiles in the world. You will see for example the King Crocodile, Sand Tiger Sharks and many more!
The Dubai Aquarium is free of charge but for exploring the underwater zoo, the underwater observatory and walking through the tunnel (which is amazing!) you need an aquarium ticket.
Do you want to visit the Burj Khalifa AND the Dubai Aquarium? It’s also possible to book the Burj Khalifa ($41) and the Aquarium tickets ($48) as a combined ticket for $66 to save money.
You won’t regret adding both of these activities to your Dubai itinerary for 5 days.

3. Enjoy the majic fountain at the Dubai Mall
The Dubai Fountain is the world’s largest choreographed fountain, it’s located just outside the Dubai Mall. Every day there will be a breathtaking show with light and music. You wont regret visiting this fountain during your 4 nights in Dubai.
The show will be every 30 minutes starting at 6PM to 11PM, daily. You can just watch the Fountain shows for free!
Tip: Grab a seat at one of the terraces before 6PM so you can enjoy the fountain all night during your dinner.
Day 2 – Dubai itinerary for 5 days
4. Tour Desert Safari Red Dune
Your 4 nights in Dubai aren’t complete without a visit to the Red Dune desert. It’s dangerous to go there just by yourself because you really need special driving skills to drive through the sand and hills.
During this desert tour you will enjoy an amazing sunset, you can go sandboarding, make a camel ride and visit a camel farm.
You can chose to do this tour for 4 hours or 7 hours. During the 7 hour tour a traditional BBQ dinner will be included. I did the 7-hour tour and was surprised by all the extra activities: belly dance show, henna tattoo painting, shisha pipes and wearing the traditional arab clothes.
Yes that’s me with a burkha 😉 –>

One of my favourite places I loved adding to my Dubai itinerary for 5 days is Barasti Bar. Barasti Bar is located at Dubai Marina at the Le Meridien Mina Syahi Beach Resort halfway the main Sheikh Zayed Road. It’s a perfect place to end your day with some (alcoholic) drinks and great snacks.
It is one of the top bars along the seaside where you can relax after a long day, watch the sunset, or you can go inside where some DJs play music. The place is always crowded after working hours.
Tip: There are weekly eventes on the Barasti Stage, you can check them out on their website.

Day 3 – Explore Jumeirah
6. Enjoy a beach day at Jumeirah Beach Residence
Jumeirah Beach is located in Jumeirah and is open for public visitors every day. On the public beaches, you don’t have any facilities. It’s also possible to enjoy a luxury beach day at a hotel, for example, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. You can buy a day pass for 250 Dirham / $68 at this famous hotel.
On the picture below you will see the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. You should definitely get a glimp of this hotel during your 4 nights in Dubai ;).
7. Enjoy a high tea at the Burj Al Arab (7 star hotel)
The Burj Al Arab is one of the most famous buildings in Dubai, it’s the only 7 star hotel in the world. This hotel is located next to the Jumeirah Beach. Adding one of the activities below to your Dubai itinerary for 5 days is something you won’t regret!
This hotel is not just a luxury hotel, the service within makes this place amazing. You can’t just walk in this luxury hotel, you need a reservation for the restaurant or a room. The average price from a room is $24.000!

Not far from the Burj Al Arab you will find Souk Medinat. You will find boutique shops, markets, restaurants, bars, cafes and amazing views (for example of the Burj Al Arab). It’s a perfect place to stroll around and enjoy some food and drinks during your 4 nights in Dubai.
This authenic marketplace has as traditional Middle Eastern style and ambience located in the heart of Dubai. I just loved having dinner and (alcoholic) drinks at this place.

Day 4 – Explore the Old Quarter
9. Take the ferry to the old part of Dubai
The old souk is located in Bur Dubai on the Southern Side of the Creek. This Creek devided the city into two main areas: Bur Dubai and Deira (the old part).
In my opinion, the most fun way to get to the old part of Dubai is to take the water taxi from Bur Dubai to Deira to the Abra Old Souk station. I crossed the Dubai Creek from Bur Dubai to Deira for just 1 AED! (see photo below;)). Believe me, it’s one of the best things to see in Dubai in 5 days.
The ferry ride takes only a few minutes and you will arrive in the Old Souk. For more information about the ferry routes and times just check their website: https://www.dubai-ferry.com/routes/.
It’s also possible to reach this area by metro, the nearest metro stop is: Al Fahidi Metro Station.
Once you arrived at the old quarter of Dubai there is a lot to explore:
- Buy items at the Traditional souk: selling a wide range of products: souvernirs, clothes, footwear and many more.
- Explore the Gold Souk
- Shop at the Spice Souk
- Walk Around Al Bastakiya Quarter: This is the oldest quarter in Dubai and you can find a lot of local art at this area.

Day 5 – Dubai Itinerary for 5 days
13. Visit The Palm Jumairah & Aquaventure Waterpark
Propably when you arrived by plane in Dubai you saw the Palm Island from your window seat! It’s one of the most impressive things to see in Dubai in 5 days.
The best and the most fun way to enter The Palm is with not with a taxi but with the monorail. Just find your way to the Dubai Marina Tram Station, which is the closest one to Damac Properties Metro Station. Take the tram to Palm Jumeirah Tram Station and from there head to the Gateway Monorail Station which brings you to the Palm. You will get amazing views and It’s much cheaper than booking a helicopter flight or Palm Skydive to see the Palm from above.
At the end of the Palm you will find the famous Hotel Atlantis The Palm which you can only enter by having a room. But what about spending your day at The Aquaventure Waterpark? I LOVED this theme park! I visited this park in 2018 but did you know the park is becoming one of the biggest waterparks in the world by 2020!
The tickets are a bit expensive, normally you pay $88 / 320 AED. My advise is to buy these tickets below to save a bit of money and it gives you access to the aquarium as well :).
Costs: $80 / 289 AED
Valid: 1 day
BUY YOUR TICKET: Atlantis Aquaventure & Lost Chambers Aquarium Ticket
14. Walk around the luxury Dubai Marina
By taking the monorail back to Dubai Marina I suggest walking around this place. This was one of my favourite things to see in Dubai in 5 days. You will find the most luxury hotels, the most expensive cars and the tallest building all around Dubai Marina.
Whitin one hour you can just make a nice round around the harbour and take some nice photos!
Tip: Do you want to make it more adventurous? Zip Line accross the Marina! Get your tickets here.
15. End your trip with dinner and drinks at Irish Village Al Garhoud
In my opinion this place is one of the coziest places of Dubai to have dinner! As the name already mentioned, it’s a small Irish Village with open air terraces and live music and is located near the Dubai Creek. There are 3 Irish Villages but the Al Garhoud is the most famous one and the one I have been to.
To get to the Irish village Al Garhoud is easy by metro. The closest metro station is Ggico Metro Station and from there it’s 13 minutes walk to Irish Village.
At this place they serve lovely Irish food and alcohol is allowed, perfect way to end your trip! Enjoy your 4 nights in Dubai!
